OK. Then your overhead is pretty heavy too. $140K. Thanks for honest clarification. We don't want people to think they get to be millionaires after 4 years of owner operatorship...
I figure after fuel, insurance ifta and break downs looking at keeping roughly 50 percent of the gross. Atleast that pretty much what I expect. Some years are better then others but that's about average.
Yup that's running 48. I live in the PNW most of the high paying for flat beds is east coast or mid south or south east so that's where I typically run to.
Heres an example of my last 4 loads. WA-IN 2400 miles 5200.00 IN-NM 1400 miles 4500.00 NM-TX 1100 miles 1800.00 TX NY 1600 miles 3800.00 I average 7mpg so about 3k on fuel minus ifta maybe 250 bucks. So far about 10k profit for two weeks. Plus or minus a grand
In a prior post you say the goal is to be running under your own authority, but these numbers don't justify that when you can make the same leased to a decent carrier.
Under 500k, pre DEF? You know you're talking about a 10 year old truck with less than 500k on the clock, right?
They are out there. My truck is an 01 and has under 900k on it. A buddy of mine just bought a 94 Volvo with a mechanical cat with 240k on it. If you are patient and willing to search you can find them.
Pretty sure there are at least a couple shops out there that do complete rebuilds on older trucks. With all the stupid crap I am dealing with under the ELD mandate and DEF/DPF crap, I am seriously thinking about my next truck being an old classic with a full rebuild.
