Well, if they are handled properly, they are actually quite good. And it's nice to have a freezer with some extra meat in it!

@dog-c don't suppose you have any way of getting that for the meat, do you?
When my my wife killed one here a couple of years ago, the deputy on scene told us we could have it, if we wanted it! (I declined because I was in no shape to handle it, at that time.)

I never claimed they aren't good eating. My grandad used to send us venison, elk and duck from his hunting trips and I love deer chili.

That being said, deer are still ########. I've seen them run completely clear of the road, then leap right into the way at the last second. My dad came up on a scene once where a deer leapt right onto the hood of some poor guy's car and he had a great big field on one side and a great big field on the other side of the road. Nope! Let's jump right for the headlights.

That whole standing and staring stuff? They're just trying to figure out how to screw up your vehicle in the biggest way.
