Sure, but they're going to be focusing on electronics.

Starting in 2026 new cars will all be able to be disabled remotely, not sure if ignition interlock made it through as part of that or not. NHTSA wants cars to not be able to speed based on the speed limit where they are being driven, which is easily done with cameras and AI. But the general public doesn’t care or pay attention and won’t know anything about it until they go buy a new vehicle and it slows down and shuts off because of “impaired driving” after they hit the rumble strips a couple times while scrolling on their phone.

They’ll like that, my forward facing keeptrucking AI cam keeps getting me for following distance because when i get passed i won’t slow down because it isn’t following they cut infront then slow or sometimes not slow, they cut you off ion video see the law and slow you down to 55 in a 70 then you pass you get two alerts, following to close then improper lane change because you were following to close.

That camera is coming out I get back home went from 80 drive score to 71 because of that.
    Means you’re wreckless!!!
AND we got it on film!!
PLUS we won’t show the part of him cutting in front then slowing, just you riding behind close and can’t get over cause other traffic

"Cruise control" back then was the throttle lock pulled out, or a brick on the pedal.

Had plenty of early 80's up to electronic motors with aftermarket cruise. Hooked to the throttle linkage and your speedo went through it.

Yes I often wonder how they intend fixing an ever growing problem, with Gas station truck stops chock a block full, rest stops packed out with trucks parked all the way out to the off ramp things need to be fixed sooner rather than later. Walmart clamping down on trucks parking there, what options are left for drivers? At night time that only leaves one option drive all night long, if you can without falling asleep provided you have the legal hours left to drive, I've done it on a few occasions when I tried finding a park at a rest stop only to find it full. Refused to park on an off ramp, did park on one occasion on the on ramp with the truck on a 45 degree angle that was fun. But really they don't give drivers a whole lot of options this is a major issue that should have been addressed many years ago.

I run a 97 every day and I’m sure there will be a point I am told to do exactly that…

I remember looking at a big option 359 way back when, “king cruise” was the name iirc
