I have a bit of a lead foot, but I learned a few years back that the way to make good time and NOT get caught was fairly simple: Always try to be the SECOND-fastest vehicle on the road, but never the fastest.

Because every now and then, we all make mistakes. The Challenger could get me tickets all day long, but my only fear is being rear ended when I'm doing 5 under all the time.

I wrecked a 2006 Vette at 105mph on a 2 -lane - and had it plead down from careless to defective brakes. I'm lucky I didn't kill my mate, and that was my lesson. Almost never exceed the speed limit now. I've slowed down a lot, because it taught me a lot.

Try not to judge, we're all at different stages of learning - I think this guy learned his.

"Judge I had to speed to avoid getting rear-ended if I went slower than the speed limit."

    Or

"Judge I had to accelerate to 20 mph over the speed limit on my Harley so my loud pipes would warn everyone to look out for motorcycles."

    Uhh, nope.

Western Express is a known "2nd chance" carrier -- you might give them a try, as well:

    Home - Western Express

They hire drivers out of Texas. Your choice: flatbed, or dry van duty.

I live in San Antonio. When I got a speeding ticket they worked with me to lower it. I’m surprised you weren’t able to haggle at all.

Edit: I see you live in San Antonio but didn’t get the ticket here.

Over by 15 mph or more is such a big deal because it is also a DOT trigger, two of 'em get you a 30 day unpaid vacation regarding your CDL priveledges.

OP comes to the game waiving one red flag and this limits the number of carriers/insurance companies willing to take the 'chance' of it ageing away.

5 over is a mistake, 16 over is a crime. Quit making excuses for reckless driving. You're part of the problem, not the solution. I have ZERO patience or "understanding" for people who speed 15 or more over. No way, should lose your license for a year first offense, forever 2nd offense. It endangers everyone on the road and even people not even on the road as many speeding cars have ended up in people's living rooms.

If you drive your car like that, you shouldn't be in a big rig. Period. What's really scary is that there are big rig drivers out there who DON'T agree with me on that. Bet they would if their loved one was killed by a speeding Billy Big Rigger.

2 tickets in one day?! That takes talent. I don't think I would've told anybody that one:biggrin_25517:

    Do 65 in a 70.

Truck moving at 55. Wait. Pass when all the idiots are done.

I don’t hang out ‘speed limiting passing’ trucks.

Look at your clock - it’s at 85 to complete a safe pass.

Pass the trooper in the median.

    Career over .

Sure, tail the truck at 55mph. Most don’t.

Get your water walking shoes out -
