Math is off, x1H. 1930 plus 10 is 0530. But that's beside the point. He's asking about split sleeper, not 10 off.

Split sleeper will only buy him a hour, then he has to sit 10 before he can move again, better to be a hour late then get a whole day.

Thank you for the correction, math is off sometimes.

Time zone change is irrelevant. You and your logbook maintain the same timezone whether you drive in Hawaii or Bemuda or anywhere in between.

There is no way to use up all of your 11 hours of drive time and then take a short break (off-duty or sleeper) and start driving again. The key to splitting your 10 hours sleeper/off-duty is to stop before you use up your driving time. If you do that you can take 8 hours in the sleeper, and only in the sleeper, and you will preserve the amount of driving time you still had before you stopped driving.

Absolutely. Log postrip if one must or just plain On Duty no remarks upon arrival to customer for a few obligatory minutes. Looks legal enough and is legal enough.

    What's to show
He does 8hrs sleeper to get 1 hour to drive to 90.
Spends 2 hours off duty at 90 to get balance of 14 back

@x1Heavy the way the split works is basically like this--

Drive 5.5 hours, take 2 hour break. Drive 5.5 hours take 8hour sleeper break. Drive 5.5 hours take 2 hour break. Drive 5.5 hours take 8 hour sleeper break. Drive 5.5 hours, take 2 hour break. Drive 5.5 hours take 8hour sleeper break. Drive 5.5 hours take 2 hour break. Drive 5.5 hours take 8 hour sleeper break.Drive 5.5 hours, take 2 hour break. Drive 5.5 hours take 8hour sleeper break. Drive 5.5 hours take 2 hour break. Drive 5.5 hours take 8 hour sleeper break.Drive 5.5 hours, take 2 hour break. Drive 5.5 hours take 8hour sleeper break. Drive 5.5 hours take 2 hour break. Drive 5.5 hours take 8 hour sleeper break.Drive 5.5 hours, take 2 hour break. Drive 5.5 hours take 8hour sleeper break. Drive 5.5 hours take 2 hour break. Drive 5.5 hours take 8 hour sleeper break.

So long as the driving hours on each side of the 2 and 8 do not exceed 11 hours the driver may split over and over again, there is no limit

    tscottme and x1Heavy Thank this.

    This is correct.

About the only time I utilize the split eight is when I stop for a split or even a 10 when my eight hour 30 minute break is required. For example, I COULD take a 30 minute break and continue, but that would mean my 11 hour clock is equal to or less than my 14 hour clock. It's better in a situation like that to go ahead and take a split 8 or a full 10, depending on the delivery schedule.
