Ive pulled old crappy spring super b's and they were fine. Bouncy empty and cushy loaded. Downside for me is, its tricky to get an accurate idea of what kind of weight is sitting on an axle. I suppose you can weigh and mark spring compression at max or in increments, OR, you can just check the pressure of the bags and know youre within a few or 500 lbs. But, if you're loaded light most of the time and the price is right.... I'd do it. Less to break, less to fix, less air to use or leak

The tankers we ran were almost all spring ride and they rode ok. The few air rides that came through often had issues and I was always glad when they went back into the system.

Only time I ran into an air ride requirement was at a bottle manufacturer somewhere in southeast Wisconsin.

Personally preferred the spring ride. Lot less maintenance issues.

I’ve pulled a variety of spring ride trailers, loaded, they are fine, if you run 70 through IN, and 74 through Danville IL, while empty, you will hate your life. The spring ride tanker I actually really liked

I love all the whining in here from all the ones with sensitive widdle hineys about spring ride trailers. :biggrin_25523:

Try an empty 10-wheel dump truck for few days. I guarantee you’ll be begging to get back in that 18. :biggrin_25525:

The rental company will screw you in the end. I promise you one way or another. Just buy a decent dry van with all the bells and whistles. Can’t be that much nowadays.

How about a trailer with just walking beams? No springs, rubber blocks or anything. Just a solid mounted walking beam.

    D.Tibbitt Thanks this.

I have 2 spring ride vans, roll door, no problems usually,
Only one load they didn’t wanna load, which I asked first hand, being a roll door and I’m glad, after they told me the rate i didn’t have to say no, they said no roll up door.

When I worked with Triple Crown I pulled mostly air ride vans but they had some containers and chassis

holy cow the containers with the leaf springs would beat you up
