I've been seeing some really good rates to move stacked chassis back to the ports. But they require me to provide chains / straps to secure them. Can anyone tell me what to expect if I decide to move some of these loads? What length of chains will I need, and how many? Will someone try to ding me for tire problems or damage that was done prior to my accepting and transporting the stack? Any other pitfalls that I need to watch out for?
Stacked chassis securement?

Is this 3 stacked on a flat bed, or a stack that is ON a chassis itself?
On a flat I used about 8 straps with edge protection. 26-30’ straps - 4”. -

FWIW, I have 8 20' 3/8" grade 70 chains, 4 snap binders and 4 ratchet binders. And 2 30' 4" ratchet straps with chain extensions.

2 securements in the first 10’ and 1 every 10’ thereafter. You could go 30’ chain, or 4” straps, or combination.
Somebody here has hauled them like you’re proposing - will advise better.windsmith Thanks this. -
Sometimes, they will come presecured to each other, I've seen them wrapped with chains/binders, multiple straps, and heavy duty banding material securing one to one and then two each other, with straps added.
windsmith Thanks this. -
The other day I saw a set of 4 bound together with 2 crossed chains at each end, and 3 chains wrapped around the middle.bbechtel16 Thanks this. -
I chained them ( on a chassis ) the same as Windsmith except I put only 2 chains wrap in the center and the cross chains on both ends. I was hauling them to Oakland from Long Beach about 400 miles but did cross 3 scales.
bbechtel16 and baha Thank this.
