Hello,
I currently stay in Atlanta, GA. I am schedule to start at Central Refrigerated on 12/30 in Conley, GA to receive my CDL class A and to train. Could any experience drivers that is working for this company tell me what it is like, the process/steps, or what to expect? I know you are being paid as long as you driving with a trailer hooked to your truck, but how many miles can I expect? I really want to be out for 2-4 days at a time, do they have routes that fit my wants? I seen other forum on here but they had their own personal questions, so if anyone out there that can help me, even with what to study for the cdl testing, that will be great.
Sorry for all the questions but I am very new to trucking.

Lemme try to help a little...
With Central and ANY OTR national company, especially the training companies like Central, you are going to be out for at least two weeks at a time, and will be lucky to get home every THREE weeks. Plan on being out for at least a month at a time, and home 4-5 days. You won't earn any money otherwise. That said, I have heard of some folks getting decent local jobs around their hometown right out of CDL school, but it's VERY rare. Spend a year over the road, and then search for a regional or local gig.I don't work for Central either. Never have. -
I really was trying to work regional or local. I wasn`t aware they were just otr.

There are 'some' local gigs... Chicago, Pasco, and maybe a couple others around terminals... But there aren't many and when there is an opening, you have a FEW trying to get them.
