I also forgot to mention, I reached my 3 month mark at Magnum at the beginning of the month and my DM informed me that my base pay was being raised from 43 to 48 cents per mile. A pretty decent raise if you ask me. Hopefully I'll be making over 50 cpm now with bonuses.

That's an outward only facing camera with no audio right?

So apparently that supposed DNH in Ponca City was actually a live load. Spent 4 hours there. Got into Coon Rapids the next day and dropped my load for a local to deliver. Got a 34 in by the time the CR shop figured out that the bumper they ordered was a non paintable bumper. They supposedly ordered the right one this time but they have no clue when it would be in.

Sitting at the Jennie-O in Willmar, MN right now waiting for a door. I arrived 5 hours early though so i wasn't all that surprised when they said to park and wait. Taking this load down to York, NE, then going to our LTL terminal in Omaha for a linehaul load to our terminal in Denver. Then going up to Fort Collins to pick up a beer load going back up to Fargo/Moorhead. Unfortunately i won't be able to sample any of it..

    Quick update.

Picking up my supposed preloaded at Anheuser Busch was a nightmare. Waited there for over 24 hours because of 'production line issues' among other excuses. Another Magnum driver was supposed to pick up the preloaded next to mine but was in the same boat i was, and dispatchers weren't too happy about it either. Absolutely ridiculous, especially for a trailer that was supposed to be ready to go in the first place. At least i got a day of layover pay. Still managed to get my load delivered on time. Picked up my next load that was preloaded by a local that went to Ohio, and then hometime.

Got a message today that all the OTR drivers are getting a .04 cents per mile raise to their base pay which is nice. Hardly 4 months with Magnum and my base pay has already been raised $.09/mile from when i started. Not too shabby in my opinion.

For a new Magnum driver--apparently, you're just the right "calibre" person for them....:laughing-guffaw:

You've obviously never heard about the likes of Werner, Schneider, J.B. Hunt, etc. then. But in all seriousness only reason why i got started out at .43/mile was because i hired on with less than one year experience. 4 months with the company and I'm already making over .50/mile. Who knows what I'll be making once i reach the 1 year mark

I did my time with Magnum starting out. Great starter company modeling themselves on the Mega training companies but smaller. So you get a smaller company with the ideals of a mega carrier. Training is the only way to make over $65,000 at Magnum. Trainers get the best and longest loads to impress trainees and pad the pockets of some of their literally toothless trainers.

You will sit for hours and hours getting loaded and unloaded. You will waste 2 hours for free getting a washout. You will sit for 2 or 3 days waiting on a reload out west sometimes. The APU makes it extremely affordable to leave a driver stuck in a dusty truck stop for days. Driver thinks it was installed for his comfort…lol

You will drive in the most terrible lanes in the USA during terrible weather. MN, Chiraq, PA, NJ, ATL. You will buy your own leaf blower and constantly climb in and out of slippery trailers blowing them out for free risking injury.

Since leaving Magnum I am making $1500 a week on a dedicated drop and hook, home 3 nights a week @ .60 cents per mile. In 3 months I have yet to climb up into or clean out a trailer. Fall out of trailer at Magnum and see what happens to your life.

I was talking to a buddy that used to work for Magnum last year and I mentioned that I hadn’t installed my TV in my sleeper. He said, “that’s a sign you’ve got a good trucking job.” If you need all that entertainment in your sleeper you work for the wrong company.

Just a suggestion, Keep a journal of all the unpaid wait times, washouts, blowouts, service etc. It’ll add up to $2000 a month minimum.

In today’s trucking, you can do way better.

They still pay a minimum of 43cents/mile wow??!!

I started working there in 2017 and they had a minimum of 41 cents/per mile if remember correctly.

With all the inflation that has occurred in the last 5 years, 43c/mile is terrible.
