I got everything together that I’d need for a couple of days when I heard the weather forecast. I was ready to go into that truck stop and pay for a shower!! If it saves your life then it’ll be the best $15 ever spent!!

@Cherokee65 have you been tracking your loads and mileage for personal records to keep track of?

I had a trainer once tell me, “it’s not what your weekly check is, it’s your quarterly pay that you need to keep an eye on.”

Whether if he was on to something or not I couldn’t tell ya. But i did start tracking my weekly pay and broke it down to quarters. Week to week, things fluctuate based on payroll cutoffs, resets, or just plain trucking. But looking at your pay by the quarter really keeps you on track of what you really earn.

I’ll have to start doing that. This is about like the construction industry as far as pay. Some weeks great and others you have to borrow money from a bank to get a bologna sandwich. I still make more money doing this so far.

I’m near the Green Bay OC tonight. Stupid tablet navigation got me all messed up on my last load and made me late to my latest appointment. Oh that tablet!! It’s about to learn how to swim in a river!! My blood has been boiling about that #### tablet!! The best thing that could ever happen to that tablet is a to hammer find it.

Costs more, without a doubt. That's a fact, Jack.

    Maintenance, however is no problem.

Pull cassette/box & empty. Rinse out & put back in. Keep flush water topped off. Easy easy. No black water tank like RV's.

Only takes a few minutes & no trouble at all.

True that!! I never knew how bad it was until I saw a truck stop lot up close, TOO CLOSE! TMI- I bet most of it was left by the left hand wipers and right hand eaters who look like women right out of the shower

Not only will it help with the psychology of piece rate pay, it will also help you identify freight patterns.

Delivering at the end of day and you have a choice of heading either north or south to s/l parking? If you know 3 out of 4 times your next load has you heading south to pickup, you can potentially put yourself in an advantageous position.

It's little things like that which differentiate between good drivers and smart drivers.
