At OD we have to have doubles/triples, haz, and tanker to get hired. I'm assuming it's the same for our LTL competitors. Getting into LTL is definitely the way to make killer money and be home daily.

Yep that’s the same at most LTL’s. XPO needs that and my current employer needs it.

Right now a home daily job wouldn’t be a good thing. We are basically homeless in this truck. I’m trying to make enough money to buy a lot in Mississippi and put a tiny home on it for a place to live.

Keep that end goal in mind, it will happen and you and the missus will be wearing ear to ear smiles then.

    Safe travels driver...

12/10 I had my last 5 teeth pulled. Doing ok so far. I had this done without any of the usual pain relievers. Just ibuprofen and Tylenol only. Been a little painful today but ice is helping with the swelling. Heading out Sunday morning with a load heading to Lincoln, Ne. I’m just ready to go get something done instead of sitting here waiting. I figured I better wait one more day in case I have any issues.

    Cherokee65,
Just take it one day at a time to be sure you are OK to handle the job. Before long you will be smiling with a new set of pearly whites. Good luck

I’m having a problem that isn’t getting resolved- Schneider doesn’t want these trucks in Optimized Idle from above 10° to 90°. The Espar heater isn’t working when the battery level is low. Our shop says to run the optimized idle to keep the batteries charged so the heater will work but the office says to not run it. This conflict has been going on for a while and I’m about tired of it and being in a cold axx truck. This might cause me to look around at my options. Seems like the office doesn’t understand that the Opti-Idle keeps the batteries charged in order for the Espar heater to work properly and flat out ignoring the mechanics advice. What do I do?

Run optimized idle. If your dtl has an issue ask for a sit down with them and the ops manager.

Go with what gentleroger suggested above.

Especially given the current CDL job market -- I would not look for another driving job...until you've been at "Big Orange" for AT LEAST ONE YEAR.

This minimum level of tenure at your first CDL carrier will make it easier for you to get other driving jobs, later.

In the meantime -- make that later job hunt much more lucrative ----> go get those tanker &/or hazmat endorsements (if you don't have both, already).

If you can put those endorsements on future job applications -- you will look more attractive to prospective CDL employers.
