I’ll take your word about that. But, my first thought when I read the “Keep the truck at home…” comment was that the company would likely just send a tow truck after it and charge the driver another grand.

 

That would probably be the best outcome you could expect. I would think law enforcement and silver bracelets would be more likely.

 

Of course that's what the company would do. That's what I'd do too. No muss, no fuss.
But if the by now ex employee wanted to raise a fuss and give the LEOs a hard time, that's okay. They gear up for that and in our area they're good at it.
If the former driver sold or damaged anything on the truck it could open up a whole new range of possibilities. Nobody with an ounce of sense is going to hold a truck hostage.
