I might add to TLea (and he is spot on), that Tyson (or whomever) tenders (offers) loads to us. We get a general description such as: "Dodge City to Vernon CA, DLD 11/04/13 1340"
We accept that load, then send trucks to the meat patch accordingly.
However, after that load is accepted (and has been partially built), there comes changes. Suddenly it's Vernon, San Gabriel and Bakersfield. Now the DLD changes. The changes go on and on.
Tyson, not Stevens, sets the delivery dates. We often get changes AFTER the load is ready and even in transit! Each time they send changes,it requires the CSR to make those changes to the load assignment. Some are better than others in making those changes. In addition, it's not uncommon for changes to roll in at 1730 in the evening for loads delivering at 0900 the next morning. The CSRs have gone home. Remember, the night crew is a skelaton crew. Often there is one person working the meat dept at night, whereas during the day, there may be 12.
I see loads where there have been many changes and we just flat miss the delivery date has not been updated and we're suppose to deliver BEFORE we get out the gate!
Buyers change orders right up to the last minute. Meaning a trailer that is loaded has to be RELOADED because the buyer decides they want less chuck roasts and more sirloin roasts.
Yes, it would help to have more people available to work during night and weekend hours, and that would help solve SOME of these problems, but for reasons that are not made evident to the lower ranks...it doesn't happen. I suspect it revolves around budget....the ol' B word.
There is much learned when arriving the 'other side', and it can only heighten the frustration as we try and make things work more smoothly.
There are dynamics on the inside that none of us can control that lend to the problem. But that's solvable only by upper management.
I mean it sincerely when I say 'thank you' for all of your hard work and dedication. Many of us notice it, but too often fail to say it.
Now excuse me, as I need to to to the cleaners to pick up my Tux.msa, flue, Rattlebunny and 2 others Thank this. -

Now, I'm not sayin I hate Ohio and West Virginia...All I'm sayin is if I had my druthers, I'd rather sit in a tub full of ####roaches having my eyelids peeled with a potato peeler while methodically breaking every bone in my hands and feet with a ball peen hammer.
Its the little things that bring me happiness. -
