Best call of the day yesterday: "tell drivers southbound on the 55 below the 70 that there will be a long wait. The wind picked up a barn and put it down in the southbound lanes." (reporting driver was northbound)
    Shades of Dorothy!

Picked up a repower from a broke down truck in Wheeler Ridge CA and running the 10 east to Austin. Wearing shorts and enjoying the sun.

    Stay safe.

I've gone coast to coast and whenever I'm close to the shipper? Repower. I'd like to hit a dock. I've forgotten how to do that lol. However, I have no idea how long flying j has been doing that pizza deal, but ####. They're making a killing off me.

I hope that changes for you. There is a lot more to this job than repowers and racking up miles. If you are not going to shoppers and receivers along with not hitting docks you are missing things like, scaling and setting tandems, pretripping the TK, securing the load, how to load a trailer with Produce multi picks, etc not to mention driving in town and on secondary roads into and out of shippers and receivers.. You need to be proficient in all of those areas to run solo successfully.

Sounds like your Alliance lease trainer has it figured out. Not the training part but the making money part. Cut out the 2 day circus at the beginning and end of each load and keep on trucking. Sucks for you though Curb.

The most important thing I can tell anyone coming from Grad Class: Don't believe for one minute your QC is right. Check your route, read a map and THINK!!!!
Seems so many fall into the trap of just doing what Jill tells them to do.
We route them daily from short bridges, off dirt roads and get them back on route.
The truth be known? The GPS system employed by the QC is barely acceptable.
Ask questions, get to know how to use an atlas, get a truck stop guide book and if it seems 'strange', ask questions!!
Also keep in mind, as you've probably already learned, the QC's don't work all that well. At any given time, 25% or more are not operating properly. So if you're depending on that gizmo to guide you...you're only going to get 75% there!
Know your route, plan your route and use the QC as one of several tools. It's not an all encompasssing trucking god!
