NYC is NOT that bad, just tight turns, and no place to park when the hours run out, unless you are delivering to Hunts point, and you can park their... was never accosted, or bothered by anyone no matter where I was delivering in NYC. Now the Boston meat market is a different story.

 

I agree with TLea... I am on my way to Hunts Point now... one drop in there, one just outside there... and a third in Johnstown... just try to plan it so you can go in aver night to Hunts Point and it usually is not a problem.

 

I know. So I've been told. But it doesn't help. I'm very very uncomfortable going there. The turns and traffic don't bother me. Its getting out of the truck. New Jersey, same thing.
And see, I probably wouldn't have a problem with Hunts Point because I'm told its secured.
Its just me. I spook real easy since winding up in the ER getting my head stitched up...

I just think its bs that ladies have a choice to go to NY, but guys don't. I'm sorry... Sexism much?!

 

I dont know what you look like, but I can, with some fair certainty tell you that your plumbing makes you less desirable as a target for certain types of shenanigans than a woman. Doesnt mean its fair, just fact.

My guy told me he wasnt confident in his ability to do this job until he went to Hunts Point the first time. I expect I wont feel confident in my ability to do this job until I go to Hunts Point the first time. But as a woman, everywhere can be a threat to personal safety. It comes part and parcel with the plumbing. You just figure it out and do the job.

 

The crime is way down in New York... as a product of the North East, growing up outside of Philly, it doesn't really bother me. If you look scared, and you act scared, you may tempt someone... just go on there like you own it, You are Billy Bad ### Trucker. No problems

 

LOL... they'll probably look at you anyway and think, " this country ### tobacco chewing gator rasslin' hilly billy hand fisher is probably packing" any way and be afraid of you.

 

one of the places I had to deliver to that my internal radar went to high alert and the hair on my neck stood up, was Philly, over by the phillies stadium, on 7th street. Had a meat load, that they have you park on the street, they call you, open the gates, and let the other truck out, and you back through the gate, and then into the covered dock... and they close the gate as soon as you clear it.

another was somewhere in NJ, by the airport, and had gun fire at a produce market in South LA.

 

In another life In was a manager for an Inventory Service. Ww were doing an inventory for the NFL, super bowl paraphanelia, shot glasses etc. They warehouse a lot of that stuff in Trenton, which was where my district office was. The warehouse company had multiple locations, we did the first one and the place including parking lot was surrounded by a fence, we went to the second one and they guy told me to park inside the building, I asked why, he said my car would be stripped or gone by the time we came out... this was at 10am on a weekday.

Personally I worked part time at a liquor stores in Delaware off and on... probably 10 years in a 20 year period. I got robbed at gun point three times. The first time is scary, the second is disbelief it is happening again, and the third time really makes you angry. At least for me anyway.

The only time I delivered meat to South Philly was to a place on the river. I know the area you were in but not the exact reciever.

 

Cuz they all come to Wilmington to do crime in the GETTO lol
