The only time that I can remember being in an uncomfortable situation was at Bruces Trucksop in Bakersfield. I had walked to the building to find that they had shut the business down. While walking back to the truck a guy started following me asking if I had changed shirts and that he was ready to polish my wheels. I was polite but told him I hadnt changed shirts and I didnt want or need my wheels polished. He continued to follow me talking. Trying to figure out what to do because I wasnt about to open my door with him there, I noticed the driver next to me was doing paperwork with his window down so I stopped and talked to him. The other guy was distracted by something so I jumped into my truck without him seeing me.Corporal_Clegg Thanks this. -
@Ardvark, check into the driver assistance fund, they may be able to fly you home after you secure the truck, talk to Bonnie about moving a payment or two to the back end of your lease or breaking it up over several weeks.
I scanned in 3766 miles this week. I was amazed. Now those are miles driven, I will probably only get paid a little over 3600, but I lost track of the repowers this week. Also had a 4 stop Qwik Trip load and made three drops, last one is in Phoenix and they sent a team off the yard to repower me here in Dallas. Now I have a nice load going to PA to start the new week. Been riding my 70 hard, 2 of the repowers were because I couldn't get to whereever with the hours available, but I think I'm ahead of it now. Sat most of today waiting for the driver to bring this load up from Laredo and I'll roll at 6 in the am with enough hours to get there easily. I do not however have a delivery date and time, but since it's going to Hershey in Palmyra, odds are it's a drop. I'll just get there as soon as I can.Crazy_Aardvark and Emulsified Thank this. -
The last time I ran a Hershey load from Laredo to Palmyra with about 1/4 tank of fuel and 1/2 refer tank the weight was 79980... this necessitated a 50gal shuffle and scale avoidance in TN as they did not grant the 400lb APU exception... Good News for you Fozzy if you are heavy too... as of July 1st Tennessee now allows a 550lb APU weight exception.
Roknric, Emulsified and Corporal_Clegg Thank this. -
Whatta week this was!
Glad to hear from some of you. Thanks for all the hard work out there people. We really appreciate it on the inside. It's funny..when we get a moment, we will often discuss some of the drivers...good ones and others.
I was pleased how several of the drivers on this board came up on in positive breathes.
We agreed that we don't tell you guys and gals how we appreciate your efforts.
Keep it up and happy fourth.
And to our Canadian brothers...Happy belated Canada Day...A Mare Usque ad Mare!Rattlebunny, TRKRSHONEY, Corporal_Clegg and 1 other person Thank this. -
Well this is sure a coincidence... when some of us driver get a few moments together, we talk about those of you on the inside...Emulsified, Crazy_Aardvark, TRKRSHONEY and 1 other person Thank this. -
Just a reminder to any fellow veterans out there... tomorrow TA and Pietro are offering a free meal to any veteran. You just need some sort of proof you served, be it an ID, a 214, or even a picture of you in uniform. I have a copy of my 214 with me sonInam going to partake. I hole many of you get to do the same.
TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
I should probably set the score straight. lol
I never said all New Yorkers were bad. My mom is from Albany. I just said NYC has a rep. Its probably a lot like the rep the American Pit Bull has: not fair, hardly factual, and blown way out of proportion...
I simply said that I don't like NYC because it gives me the creeps. Its mostly me and its mostly all in my head.
I didn't even have to go. I repowered a load to Mass instead.
Happy Independence Day everyone!!!!
A special thanks to anyone who served. You, those in uniform now, and those who have fallen... you all have my utmost respect. Freedom isn't free, and I don't take my right to come up here and whine about New York lightly.
This thanks goes out for Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy (and its many attached entities), Coast Guard, National Guard, Reserves, and Auxiliaries (Civil Air Patrol, Sea Cadets, ROTC, etc), as well as Fire Fighters, Paramedics, and yes, even Law Enforcement (we may not always like the badge, but where would we be without you?).
Thank you.Last edited: Jul 4, 2013

Actually the first time that I went into the NE was when my aunt was moving from Stamford, CT back to TX. I was all prepared to be treated rudely but the only time was when U-Haul told us that they didnt have the trailer that she had reserved several weeks prior.
Anyway, I hope that y'all have a great 4th and y'all stay safe! -
Happy 4th everyone. In addition to the ones that served I would like to thank the dedicated truck drivers that deliver everything a 4th of July party needs. Without you guys it just wouldn't happen.
jomar68, nascarchuck and discodubber Thank this.
