I actually consider this- driving this truck- to be a service to my country. This is my tour of duty.

I have a quick question that I don't think I have seen addressed here. You know I live in the DFW area, but will be staying at the hotel during training. This question may seem a no-brainer, but can I take my personal vehicle to the hotel and use it as transpo instead of the shuttle?

 

certainly. your parking will be in the lot next to the (Military Parkway) guard shack.

 

Crazy_Aardvark, what's the update?? How did the Dr apt go?? Hopefully you went home to be there with her, there is nothing more important than family. The lease payments can be dealt with later. Hubby & I had to go home on an emergency basis when my sister was put on Hospice care. We were there nearly 2 weeks until after her funeral. Bonnie made arrangements for our payments & helped with cash advances since we had just about drained our T/O acct a couple of months prior on our time off in Detroit.

 

Thats what I did during school. Made it nice not having to worry about the shuttle and I had transportation to WalMart, restaurants, etc. My roommate even bought me a little gas each week too ride with me.

 

Hello all, my apologies for lack of status update but I have been running like a dog and hitting what seems to be every truck stop with a lack of quality wifi until today LOL. My daughter did see the ortho surgeon the following day and I was able to be on speaker phone during the examination and got to ask all my questions and such and am feeling much relief, turns out she has the cyst which has grown through the bone several times, and also has a crack in the bone as well, her leg is very fragile. She will still require surgical correction however the GREAT news from the doctor was that it is most likely 99 percent chance NOT cancerous. He said this is fairly common in young children however he had not seen it grow through so many times as it had my daughter. She has a CT scan scheduled for this Sunday and then the surgeon will be consulting with an ortho doctor from childrens hospital in Oakland CA as well as one from UC Davis, both reputable hospitals and staff. They did put her leg in a full hard cast from foot to knee to prevent any further damage. Broke my heart as my daughter asked if she could still go ride with her daddy this summer and doc told her yes he didnt see why not to my horror and I later had to explain to my daughter that I could not have her on my truck with that kind of issue because if something happened we could be hundreds of miles from a hospital to take her to (anyone been down I40 in california oughta know this one). Maybe I am being to protective but if something happened slip and fall twist or anything I would never forgive myself. Told her there is always next summer. Hard for an anxious 11 yr old to grasp that whole concept bu I think she did well. I did talk to my DM the morning before the exam and he got me on emergency routing to Nor Cal, ended up calling him later and telling him it wasnt necessary and he thanked me for letting him knowbut computer put me on a load to Stockton anyway LOL So kind of did a big loop, Illinois to victorville to LA to stockton to salinas to cedar falls, back from cedar falls/mason city to stockton. Right now I am sitting in Salt Lake getting hours back or a reset load not due till Monday morning and I can knock out the last 675 miles running sunday hard and a few easy hours monday morning,Tommorow is my birthday so I am giving myself a day off LMAO. ANyone running thru here that stops at the TA feel free to say Hi, I am on the front row out the fuel isle in a big black truck LOL. Thank you all for your supportive comments and concern. Yall are a great family. Once again I apologize for not getting back n here sooner, I kind of tend to focus on my work and shut a lot out while I stew going down the road. I had my work cut out on these two loads that became quite challenging at points to keep on track. but sometimes its an escape from some of that reality pain ya know?

Anybody know of any spots between sparks NV and auburn CA/Citrus heights/grass valley I can hole up in for a break? seems there isnt anything but a couple rest areas and I wont make Sacrmento on my hours vs distance plot I dont think.
