Can someone give me a heads up on the Kraft dedicated? I live in Georgia and would like to know what to expect.

I have no personal experience with it but a driver I know went on it recently (6 months or so ago) and he loves it. He says he is running better than 3k miles each week and gets home weekly, sometimes a restart, sometimes a few hours, but gets through there frequently. He lives in Alabama I believe.

Ok, finishing up orientation tomorrow and not impressed with the new training schedule. I can't see how new drivers will be really ready. Basically after 3 weeks the trainee is supposed to take over running the truck, I know the Trainer is still there but. How do the trainers out there feel about it? Do you adhere to the schedule? Well I guess those are loaded questions so I understand if no one answers.
I preferred the old 5 -6 weeks out then OR2 and 3 weeks Trainee Trainee. I thought that was pretty good length of time to start developing the skills needed. Oh well it is what it is. Hopefully I will be on the road before Sat. I want to get everything done ASAP.

I was running the truck after three weeks when I went through training under the old schedule. That hasn't really changed I don't think. It will depend on the individual trainers to an extent. I was not a trainer long, but I had a student under each system and to be honest what I saw as the main benefit of the new system is that it gives more control to the student over his training. If he is picking it up fast and doing the tests and progressing he has the flexibility to move on where he did not before.

Essentially the same things are being taught, just a slightly altered format.

Thanks KMac, I also was running the truck for the most part after 3 weeks, but I got more out of OR1 back then. What we got seemed very light this time. No trip planning, heck no atlas, mostly was signing papers and listening to Cheney(longest session 4 hours). I have a small class only 32 and it seems there are a lot of guys who are totally confused. Could also be the the quality of students coming in. We had a dropped trailer and landing gear torn out from under the trailer. Well we will see, hopefully I will be out Thurs or Friday at the latest. I will see how the online goes.

I heard about the landing legs, also heard about one of the Trainers in Training backing into another trailer. Sounds like you had an exciting week on the hill, LOL.

there's a reason those trailers (and tractors) look the way they do up on the hill!

Hey y'all. Touching base, all is well. I find my new place in life satisfactory, both monetarily and in the ability to see and show off a job well done.
I tarped a load for the first time... Was wondering why none of the 6 other veteran drivers offered to help me, as they will usually do that for newbies. Turns out I was doing such a snazzy job, they all thought I had years of experience... Well ok then!

Corporal_Clegg, flue, KMac and 3 others Thank this.
