just saw that as well, couple dudes from my training class all texted me with it around the same time......I really can't remember how many times both in class and orientation we were told NO UTURNS EVER!!!! We had a teacher in class pull a uturn right out in front of the entrance to our driving range one day while he was bobtailing back from the shop....you would have thought we were all in kindergarten excited to point our fingers at the teacher.....we rode him hard for a few days after that...everytime someone would say "NO UTURNS" we'd all be like "You mean like the one Teach did the other day?".....just kind of ironic this photo happens so soon after I leave the school LOL......i hope it wasn't anyone i went to school with lol

The sign of a former driver... Do they think they won't get caught?!
In this past year, I've done 2 allowed turn-arounds on a divided highway with a left hand turn lane and enough room to stop the truck completely in the middle with no overhang into the street-- basically 2 left hand turns. Both times, I got a phone call minutes later from Safety asking me what I had just done...
Why would anyone take the chance with their career and other's lives?

you know, on a lighter note, that picture.....i've done some photography as a hobby in the past.....the lighting is phenomenal, the centering of the truck in the frame, just enough of the surroundings caught in the frame to give it good scale, honestly, if you could ignore the fact the thing is blocking both sides of the road and snug up against what appears to be the only street sign for miles around.....it is a really nice and well done picture.

I remember from some movie, maybe someone knows it...."There is ONE ROCK in this entire desert....and YOU manage to HIT IT!!"

I too was admiring the photography. Add a bit of vignetting and a polarized gradient filter to darken the sky, and it'd look like a shot from Top Gear...

You will get used to sleeping in the truck in no time.

Nice that you are getting to NYC so early in your training so you will see it is not that bad, slow and careful is all it takes. My trainer did not go to New York, claims he got mugged there one time, I think he was just scared, who knows, so I got to do is solo my first time.

I am sitting in the dock on Long Island as I type this.

Why didn't he just continue with the u-turn, flattening a small sign is better than blocking the whole highway.
