This might sound trivial, but next time you are in the grocery store, turn the cart around and push it from the front... You'll thank me later Daniel son

Get Out And Look. Keep learning. Watch what happens when you attempt corrections. Spend some time backing and practicing in large truck stops when they are nearly empty.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.

Try it, then let me know

Double that.
Take your time. If the driver behind you stays in the truck and keeps playing on the phone, youre fine. If it takes too long, he should get out and assist.
If you're in a regular spot and you find the truck in a 90 degree angle or more to the trailer, your set up isn't right.
One day, I was watchong a female setting up to back in at a TA. TA usually has angled parking. She tried to back in the wrong way around. I walked up to her and told her to turn around and back in over the blind side.
I will NEVER do this again. I got quite a mouth full to hear.
She eventually made it because there were two open spots on the opposite row where she could pull forward and staighten the truck.Farmerbob1 and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
See that terrifies me. Thus far I’ve been able to avoid blindsides!FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

Does your truck have a window in the sleeper? If it does, from the driver seat you should be able to look out the right sleeper window and see your trailer when doing a blindside back. It help a bit because you can position the back corner of your trailer easier with that straight line of sight.FlaSwampRat and BigDog Trucker Thank this.

Am a year in and still not near confident in backing...I drive a tanker though and I don't back into docks
-
I never even thought of that! It has one of those windows with the cranks, but anything is better than nothing! I’ve taken to darting back and forth between the drivers and passenger seats to lean out the window lolFlaSwampRat and Farmerbob1 Thank this.

It just takes repeated practice. Those of us whom pick it up quickly have been pulling trailers long before we went CDL. There is no real time to learning to do it. So enjoy the ride and do the best you can. After all, we are only human. Or at least I presume you are human as well. LOL
Tx Countryboy Thanks this.
