Fine, if you don’t want to talk about it then I’ll just make something up.

Let’s say you stopped three times in those first 8 hours. Twice for a quick 5 minute bathroom break and once for lunch. So for this hypothetical lunch break let’s say that it took you 18 minutes to go inside, go to the bathroom, wait in line at McDonalds, and get back to your truck. The smart thing to do would’ve been to stay there for another 12 minutes to complete your 30 minute break and reset your 8 hour clock. I realize that you would’ve wasted 12 minutes doing it this way, but that’s better than wasting 30 minutes the way it worked out for you. Plus you wouldn’t have been a sitting duck on the side of the highway.

Exactly right, when you get down to 2 hours remaining (if you haven't done a 30) or less, it is time to do that 30 to unlock that remaining 3 hours on the 11 rather than trying to push yourself out to the limit with hope and dreams you can get that last 131 miles in the remaining 2 hours your have left.

 

WRONG. You don't need to take a 30 minute break to log on duty time.
Is it your company policy to log a post trip? Because it's not neccessary

You can work as much as you body will let you, well over 24 hours straight. You, however, cannot drive is the restrictions.

P.s. for most cases it's a 14 hour window, not 12

 

Go off duty. It won't trip until you drive 5 miles.

 

Gotta love all this discussion on the best way to break the law.....

 

According to the guide lines must put you on drive time anytime you go over 5mph or drive 20 miles,for yard moves. Company can have stricter rules.
