True, and you might run in to a special case like the logging one. It's not all CMV's in all stations though. Some states are, some are by weight. I.E. even RV's have to go in, etc. Here is a list by stata if you are interested.

I don’t think it’s fair to weigh an obviously empty trailer so when I do enter the weigh stations, I just keep rolling over the scales at about 60mph. :)

Of course not, bypassing is staying on the big road. I'd say even the most novice hands on the road know this.
The bypass lane is just a quick exit once the cameras, radars, and pre scale tells them your within all the limitations..... in other words, no red lights, bells or whistles lining you up for a unwanted door prize.

Grubby, cke, 4mer trucker and 7 others Thank this.

I heard overweight grain haulers get to bypass the coops. Except in Iuka Ms.

I heard the same thing.... something about the hopper bottom doors not sealing properly and spilling the grain in the scale area. Seems to atttact unwanted birds and the such, and what isn't eaten, gets wet when it rains causing a fermented smell which seems to make the scale house employees wander about. But you know how lunch counter talk is.....
