Storing straps

Is it the way the pics are taken, or is there way too much weight on the back springs of that truck? Looks to me like the tires are almost touching the wheel well.

 

Welcome to pickups. They use a whole lot of soft leaves to build the spring pack so it rides like a caddy, then a big over load spring to hold any real weight when loaded down.

Id bet he doesnt even have 5k of tongue weight.

My observation is that if you leave straps winded on the winch you have to throw hook over, walk around to secure hook, then walk back to winch side to wind up. Whatever time you think you saved is probably wasted walking back and forth.

 

Compared to digging them out of box carrying them back the trailer 2-3 at a time then walking back to box to get more and then throwing them over and then having to thread each one through the winch. Or loosening them and then unthreading and walking around and wind them up and put them away.

I know I save time leaving them on the winch. The winter, rain, sun and winch spool rusting does hold water.

 

How do you guys roll them up? Manually or by some truckstop gadget?

Also Home Depot sells milk crates for $8 that are exactly 1’x1’ and I can fit 9 straps in it. So you don’t have to walk a few times. Plus with all the holes of the crate the straps still dry quick.

 

I've used both. Either one works just fine.
