Back in the 70's I was pulling a low boy and dropped a piece of equipment off at a jobsite close to LaPorte Tx, just before quitting time. traffic was pretty thick, but I was in the hammer lane on 146 headed south, when the foreman passed me and motioned for me to stop at a little store down the road and get something to drink. I started trying to get over, but a car had pulled up along side of me, and kept slowing as I did. I finally just stopped and so did he, he just kept looking straight ahead.
I got out and crawled over the hood, and with my feet on the fender and my elbows on my knees, just looked at him, he never looked up, til I ask how he was doing. lol
Cars behind us had been steadily honking their horns, and this guy never paid any attention, must have been day dreaming about something good. Once I spoke to him and he looked up, he peeled out of their. lol
strange things happen at quitting time

One time I needed a ride at the mall and we whistled up one of the dump trucks with a friend from our work place shop. So he shows up with the monster. People could not deal with him. In I went. and off we went.
Small parking lot but we managed.
It's not much of a story but you have to remember the yankees back home would not take liking to anything totally out of order like a huge greasy, oily snorting monster scattering dirt over everything. HA...tucker Thanks this. -
He was on PCP and thought you had stopped at a red light.

I did not get the impression that he was impaired, could have been, but I didn't get that impression.
I have had cars follow me into scale houses before, just riding along in a daze sort of. lol -
On my last road trip I did not leave maryland until noon, I should have left there at sunrise after breakfast. The result was a 100 mile whiteline fever fight going into hotel at Knoxville 11 hours later in my car. I won that fight but barely. What was a two day run to Arkansas turned into a three day trip trying to get rested. That's one of the reasons the personal vehicle i have now is capable of being a sleeper berth for those trips in the future. -
I pulled a team load with a guy once and he didn't want to drive until we had gotten out of the Dallas Forth worth area, so once I was north of Ft worth on 285 I climbed in the sleeper, and told him just stay on this road, i will wake up before you need to get off. He didn't go 20 miles till the truck was braking hard and leaning in a hard curve. I got up and he was stopping at a stop sign on the bottom of an off ramp, he took it thinking he was following the highway. lol
