I actually wrote a paper about this. Their common name for almost two centuries now is “Mormon Cricket” and if you are familiar with the “miracle of the seagulls” in Utah that saved the Mormon pioneers crops, I argued in my paper pretty convincingly that the crickets were the actual miracle but the pioneers couldn’t see it. The indigenous people there are them, locus are kosher ie biblical, and higher in proteins, fat, carbohydrates and many essential nutrients, that were pound for pound about ten times the nutritional value of the meager crops that had been grown that year. In my mind it was like the joke about the man waiting on his roof for God to save him from a flood, so he one by one rejected the boats that came for him. If the crickets were the miracle and the pioneers didn’t see it the s eagles would have been sent to save them from the miracle. And before anyone jumps me I am Mormon and my ancestors were on the first wagon into what would become Salt Lake City.
Strangest thing you've run over or almost ran over
