Mebbe im missing something but looks like its essentially identical method, except one hooks rail first, other throws then hooks.God prefers Diesels and CAXPT Thank this.

They are the same basicallyGod prefers Diesels and CAXPT Thank this.

But I did learn an easier way to do my straps on the second one. I usually threaded them through the winch, and then folded them backward and tucked them under the load, or just against the deck for the winch to tighten it down. His way looks way easier.
Learn something everday.
God prefers Diesels Thanks this. -
I used this method while pulling the tall PODS. Worked wonderfully.cke, CAXPT and God prefers Diesels Thank this.

Throwing straps over a high load reminds me of a Marmon truck story. Marmon hoods were quite heavy. A guy goes to the dealer, checking out new trucks. The guy can't get the hood to tilt, the salesman tells the guy "if you're not man enough to open the hood, you're not man enough to drive a Marmon"
No reference to the OP, throwing straps just takes a little practice. Just a funny story from the "good old days".Cattleman84, beastr123, God prefers Diesels and 5 others Thank this. -
I'm curious what your physical condition is if you find a 5 pound strap, "heavy". Pay attention to the wind direction and use it to your advantage. Lob the rolled end over so the momentum carries and unrolls it over the other side. Practice and you'll get it.

It ain’t the weight, it’s what it eventually does to your shoulder, like the guy mentioned in the video.God prefers Diesels, CAXPT, MOBee and 3 others Thank this.

OP mentioned it being heavy. Nothing was said about repetitive use injuries. If someone is so frail they cannot lob a 5lb piece of nylon over a 13' load they are seriously out of shape. Maybe door swinging would be more suitable. Or perhaps they may pull a hamstring walking 60 feet.beastr123, CAXPT, blairandgretchen and 1 other person Thank this.

Yeah, they’re not heavy , not sure why the ‘heavy’ was mentioned - but the RSI will mess you up.OLDSKOOLERnWV, shooter19802003, ProfessionalNoticer and 2 others Thank this.
