Are the pintles on the back of the LTL trailers charged with air? The pintle I had on the back of my log truck had an air chamber attached to it and when you charged the trailer a plunger came out in the pintle hitch and kept the eye tight.
Stupid LTL question

Most trailers have them, most trucks do NOT. -
I knew most LTL trucks didn't have them, but I wasn't sure about the trailers.

Yea that would be something to see,a pintel hook on a truck with a air powered ram rod..
-
-
Pintle hooks are rated for around 3K....Bad idea.
-
RR, were you told to retrieve it or being mr. nice guy? or maybe i missed it that you dumped a trailer because of storm?
-
Shaggy Thanks this. -
That's what I meant. Safety chains do nothing. You'll watch your pup flip over or go ghost riding. That's why you make sure that bad boy (plunger) locks.

Sorry to bump this, but we got a new Freightshaker at our terminal in the last month. On a fancy plate, above the pintel hook, is a weight rating! Must of heard you asking this question lol. I wanted to grab a pic of it, but oh well, too lazy and it's a 3 day weekend.
Weight rating on the pintel hook is 3999 lbs. So, that answers that!
Happy 4th of July everyone
