Your making up your own seneros to fit your story. The op ask about the day before that he's in a motel the day before.oreintation.never heard any company that could dictate what legal activity you could partake in while you were off duty.dont think you could take pic of that policy in your handbook either.if you want to have a drink while your off duty your a grown up be responsible you know when you have to be at work.

Nothing to do with being a big boy....
When you check into a hotel that has been reserved and paid for by which ever company your there to work for your a@# is on the line..

Drink if you want but you probably won't be driving for that company and then come back to this thread and let all of us know how that worked out for you..

Good point. Never stay in a motel provided by the company. There are way too many company snitches around and it's probably a ####hole anyway.

Get your own hotel room and drink all you want.

Look I'm sure the guy has worked very hard to get his CDL I know I did . And it would suck to hear about another fellow driver loosen there job or perhaps license because of something as dumb as drinking when they shouldn't be.
There's a time and a place for everything....

Just figure you're going to get a DOT drug test about 5 minutes after orientation. If your BAL is zero at that point, you're good. Show up even kinda-sorta drunk? Hope you enjoy your bus ride home.

Just my opinion, but if I were walking in the door for the first time, first impressions are everything. If they smell that familiar next day it is coming out of your pours scent I was drinking all day yesterday, or pee and can see the green in it, you probably are not leaving the impression you want to. If you walk in, do your thing on autopilot you will find people will take note of that also. Just blend in, they will think you are just another number going through the motions.

Your responsibility is to never show up to a job (ANY job) massively hung-over or intoxicated, fully able to give your best to that job, whatever it is.

My personal rule is that if I need to be driving, I need to not have had a drink for at least 12 hours. (16 is better).

    I've never had an issue.

The OP asked about the night before orientation... No one made that up.
