If you think you will need them get them before you start training. Everyone is different.
I don't wear Sun glasses and I don't have any issues driving with it being sunny out, or in my eyes etc etc. most trucks have big enough visors that you can pull down to block the sun. Works just fine for me.

For anyone that has NOT suffered from snow blindness, let me explain. This is a condition where your retinas become sunburned. The feeling is a cross between having acid poured into your eyeballs while inflating them to the point of exploding.
I haven't had the condition, because I wasn't STUPID enough to not wear glacier goggles on a glacier in bright sunlight. You can get snow blindness from spending hours on snow or on water, anywhere you have sunlight reflecting up into your eyes.
Get UV resistant lenses. If you don't, then dark lenses simply dilate your pupils and allow more UV rays to burn your retinas. My stupid friend used cheap sunglasses without UV resistance. He is continuing to pay for that young and dumb mistake. Once you sunburn your retinas you develop hyper sensitivity to light.
Don't go cheap on your eye protection.Dave_in_AZ, rabbiporkchop and TROOPER to TRUCKER Thank this. -
