    It's a tool.

Why are you letting a tool make those types of decision for you?

If I was letting the tool make the decision, I'd have run the first route without question.

I knew the route that I wanted to take. Although I just might take the US29 route anyway, as there are some folks along that route that I know and haven't visited with for some time now.

I'm well aware of watching speed limit signs.

My main point was being routed to blatantly illegal roads like HOV lanes.
    This should never happen.

I wasn't insinuating that you were not watching the speed limit signs. My main response to you was by your post, it appears that you think when you submit a Tell Rand message it should change immediately or soon. That's what I'm saying, is that it will take them a long time to make those changes. Mark has posted that Rand needs to check with numerous sources to confirm what you're reporting. Example, I've reported that the speed limit Rand has for the town of Ellinwood, KS is 65, when it really is 35. I've reported this several months ago.

    Edited:
I'm still having the problem with not getting the warning prompt toward the end of my hours. I don't know why it chooses not to.

I'm glad that you monitor this board/thread.

1st. My friend let me use his Rand McNally [h=2]IntelliRoute[SUP]®[/SUP] TND[SUP]™[/SUP] 510. He stated it was old and needed a update. Okay. I used it for 2 months. This thing was was trying to route me thru neighborhoods were trucks shouldn't be at. Truck routes. It would route me thru the beginning of a truck route and then take me out of it. Thank god I was watching the signs. Simple basic like going to my terminal, google map directions:

I called Rand Mcnally. I gave them the serial number for this unit. They stated 1 year old. Ok, not so much out of date. I called the city for the truck route it was trying to route me out of and asked if this route for trucks has ever changed, They stated it has been like this for 10 years. Ok.... What is going on with this unit. I use google maps on my phone. It gives me more precise/direct gps than this expensive unit does except for the much needed, low bridges, truck route, etc. I wish Google would come out with a gps for truckers......

I agree that the RM GPS routing leaves a lot to be desired at times. What were your route settings when you put in the start / end points? I've found that sometimes you need to select 'avoid small roads' or 'prefer freeways' to keep this from happening. Also, check your truck parameters. If you're set for under 13'6" height, 96" width instead of 102", or your loaded weight is not correct, then you can be mis-routed easily.

Is there an issue with the unit being able to see the satellites close to the Mexico border? Driving along I10 westbound through AZ and CA the unit was reporting 0 or 12 or 1 of 14 stuff like that (No GPS). I got my other unit out and it did the same thing. Both of these units were purchased in 2010. The one unit did start to pick up 5 or 6 satellites as we moved north on HWY 99 though.
