Why don't you work for a company without trainers. I have never had a ride along trainer in my entire career.
Someone once told me "Never surrender your CDL, make them take it away when you are to old. There will always be a job somewhere, it my not be the best, but you won't starve." Every time I get down on the industry I remember those words. Good luck brother, your job is out there.
I hate when someone bumps a thread that’s 17 years old and I have my reply all ready before I realize it lol.
You should and need to be there when your kids are growing up. When I was out there I had two diff friends that had/has kids and they regretted having to always be gone. I don't have any kids (that I know of) but I loved my parents with all my heart, that's why in 2010 I didn't hesitate to stop driving and help them live out the rest of their lives in their own paid off home, they didn't want to go to a retirement center. I dropped my twic and my hazmat but have kept renewing my cdl. No tickets or accidents ever, no dui or any stupid stuff like that. After going thru trucking school and then going with two different trainers at Werner when I started, I figured I've been thru a little stuff to get this license, I might as well keep it. I'm the guy who's at the bottom of the hill walking up it when my side of the forces is running the other way. I'm just stubborn like that.
Wow Necro thread from the dead How do you even give up a CDL ? Twic and haz mat have to be constantly renewed but the CDL part is forever unless the states revoked it medical card can be self certified intrastate so you don’t need to get it to keep the CDL Although going to CVS pharmacy clinic and getting your med card isn’t hard unless you’re obese or have other issues
