So I got my cdl through swift last November. I've been solo since just before last Christmas. About 50k miles so far. The dedicated account I'm on is great. But my home situation has changed and I'm just not making enough money to cover my bills. I've already got another job lined up. They're ready for me to start asap. But I've heard stories about these megas threatening to sue companies to prevent them from hiring drivers that haven't paid back their "loan". As far as I remember there was no "contract". I have no issue with paying back the full amount still owed but I simply have to make more money. Any thoughts/experience would be greatly appreciated.

Do what’s best for you, and your family. The rest will work itself out.

I guess what I'm asking is: does anyone knows how swift handles this situation. Are they likely to try to prevent me from going elsewhere.

Look back into the copies you have of everything you have signed with Swift.

Sadly, I'm not even sure if I have copies of everything/anything. I'll have to see what I can find when I get back home.

There is a loan contract with swift training if you got your cdl from their school .it was 5000 $ back in 2017. Might be more now . If you work there for a year it gets paid as they take it out of your paycheck every week. And if you stay second year you get it back . If you leave early you pay the rest either full or with a payment plan . If you dont pay they send it to collections and mess up your credit.

Might want to stick it out the year.

I get it - but there’s a reason why these bottom feeders have the reputation they do.
