I am in a pickle myself regarding leaving Swift (or a company and trying to get back on as per original post). I left to work for a lease operator but it didn't work out so well for us so I decided to come back which Swift policy allows if the driver is gone less than 30 days. However right now is a very tough time to try to get a truck as there are about 18 new hire drivers waiting for a truck at my terminal. As a returning driver my name is on another list separate from those 18 names and hopefully a priority list at that.
So out of curiosity I called recruiting to see if I could qualify for leasing a truck and they said Yes. Funny how the lease op I was teaming with said the only way I could do it was to lease his truck with his help and kick him back 10% of my profits. But because I don't have the down payment, I will have to run for 30 days as a company driver before applying for the no-down lease. Back to square one waiting for a company truck again sigh.... -
A bunch of us tried to tell you that you don't need that jerk. Lose his. Phone number and get on with your life.
Hamshoe, otherhalftw and spuddatruckdriver Thank this. -
Why would you want to lease a truck? you were complaining about not getting any miles. In Orlando they told KH in orientation it is very hard to go solo without training.
You don't seem to know enough to lease a truck.
You have a wife an kid? Or kids?
BLS there was a couple looking at that Volvo today. I never got near it. Got a shower and preplan and left.Hamshoe Thanks this. -
Nah...we wouldn't offer such sound advice...not to a rookie!
And to think...a Mentor wasn't telling the whole truth....about much of anything I guess!

"Scottied67 II The Sequel/The Facts I Choose To Ignore!"
It will be a comedy, and a tragedy.
You were getting crap miles as a company driver. Think it will be any better as a L/O?
Perhaps you will "train?" You are still wet behind the ears.
It used to be to qualify to lease you had to average 2500mi. a week for 2 months?Hamshoe Thanks this. -
Actually, it is more likely he will get more miles as a lease driver than company. At least, that's been my experience.
spuddatruckdriver and Hamshoe Thank this.
