swift and the lease purchase

yeah, right? I wanted to tell him that over the phone. and here is the kicker....he was a MENTOR !!! His reason behind it was he didnt see a future with swift. Also told me that the gal he was training was going to be his co-driver when they went to another company.

 

Trust me, Swift could change the contract, tweak it, so that the leaseor could 'walk away' without said 'crushing debt burden', and STILL make out okay on the lease. One of the things i think constantly about is the fact that if a driver keeps breaking down week after week (i'm lucky, i'm only breaking down every 3 weeks ) and says "to heII with it", and parks the truck at a terminal, walks in and tosses them the keys after they clean out the truck, swift/iel still gets to charge the leaseor for the truck payment/insurance and the like. They'd actually make MORE money by getting the truck leased again, at full price (like they do) and get a driver in that truck to start pulling freight.

Don't matter where i go, i'm always asked about my T660 from company drivers. Just yesterday waiting in line at the shop, i had a guy walk back and start asking me about it. Like i told another poster, there are some company drivers who want to lease a truck all based from their ego and how they want to show up their friends cause they now have "their own truck".

trust me....swift could make the contract a bit more lucrative for the leasor, and still make hand over fist. I'll be watching this lawsuit very carefully. Give me a chance to buy this truck outright, right now, for fair market value? i'll jump all over that. I got some stock i could sell....

DickJones if I read correctly from your post up there, you wrote that the contract you signed was just 95% the same as the one they let you take home to peruse, correct?

Lessee= Swift company driver moving up to lease purchase
Lessor= Swift/IEL

 

yes....so whats the next thing you're going to badmouth me about now? do yourself and the OP a favor, and if you're not going to produce any 'help' for the OP....just remember the title of the thread, and remind yourself not to look at it.....

 

Not necessarily ... I've never been a Swift "company" driver.

 

The reason I ask is it's quite possible that they have "tweaked" the contract before they are forced to by the court. It would look better for them if they voluntarily did this. If your contract is different than say my hubby's was, then more than likely they are correcting the problems in it. I'm glad that you were afforded the opportunity to look the contract over prior to signing it. Hubby didn't have that luxury.

 

If you can sell the stock? You could dump the lease and buy another truck and lease on somewhere else.

Probably should have set up a LLC that way you can walk away and bankrupt the LLC.

Companeys prey on egos to get you to sign. Fill you full of dreams and hose you.

It's a sham and many fall for it.
