Thanks Big Don: This is not about the MEGAS; We all know that the megas could care less about turnover because of the large pool of new drivers coming into the industry. They are concerned about safety but not much effort is put into retention because this industry is about supply and demand. This industry was built on uninformed drivers and keeping them that way. I subscribed to sirius radio for the trucking channel to learn more about the industry .I started to listen to channel 146. What is a trucking radio show doing talking about baking pies and other useless gossip. I gave up on Sirius Radio channel 146, until another driver told me about Kevin Rutherford. Why is KR at 11:00 pm M-F when he should be the flagship of road dog trucking radio. Who is up at 11pm. At what point do the drivers start to work together to reap the rewards that we deserve for our hard work and sacrifice. Lepton1 may be a supertrucker but he at least admits that he too came thru a mega and is also willing to post his gross for other newbies to see. This is the type of driver we need. I have a student who went into the oil patch in Corpus Christi and is making 1500 to 2800 per week on 10 days on and two off as a company driver . I keep in tough because there are other drivers who need these types of leads. When will us drivers take the lead and start a company that prototypes Landstar or Schneider Choice or Interstate without allowing the brokers or agents to steal all the profits away from the drivers who do all the work. I am hanging my hopes on UBER FREIGHT and Kevin Rutherford because good drivers deserve better.
Is your truck governed? No? = Super trucker. Do you run paper logs? Yes? = Super trucker. Do you bring food from home, cause you get by the house often to eat healthy? Yes? = Super trucker. Do you have at least the same amount of common sense that God gave a jack ###? Yes? = Super trucker.
I don't see how retention and safety are not connected. The mega carriers are set up to retain the bad drivers. When they rack up a few preventables, no one else will hire them. The drivers with no preventablesvare usually gone in 3 to 12 months.
