The only Midwest state they don't have coverage in is Kansas.

Not saying this will happen, but... I worked for a company (not going to mention names) who did what Knight-Swift seems to be doing. They bought up a large portion of their business sector so as to cover the entire country. They ended up pricing themselves out of the market and eventually filed bankruptcy. They sold everything off and are now no more. I have noticed that Swift has already lost some big contracts in my area. Will be interesting to see what happens here.

Ltl is such a cut throat business but knight/swift has so much money they can power through. They'll save money on linehaul driver pay using newbies instead. They'll pay them .40 cent a mile instead of 100,000 a yearWaterman_99 Thanks this.

AAA COOPER only services the Chicago, Indianapolis and St Louis areas in the Midwest. MME actual customer base in their Eastern service area is light also. For example, despite being sister companies, MME can't deliver freight from Des Moines, IA to St Louis, Mo. When I say a complete network, I mean an actual network of established freight and and a link between them. Dohrn is stronger in the Midwest proper than MME would probably ever be and Pitt Ohio is a major player out east. Buying Pitt Ohio fills that entire gap and leaves only the West coast left.bzinger Thanks this.

You're probably right. I'm in LTL myself. But it's hard for companies to keep drivers in LTL without good pay. Even dock workers for that matter.bzinger Thanks this.

Man I wish they could retain good dock workers they would save soo much money by not having so many claims from damaged freightBeHereNow97 and bzinger Thank this.
