In keeping with the spirit of my original post, Swift actually employs someone who is paid to take the time to design and build a road block around the easiest, most efficient and cost effective means to disseminate the policy: include it (a link, at least!) in the stinkin' email!Last edited: Apr 3, 2011

Letsee here. 04-01-11. April First. April Fool's Day.
Did you read this thread?
http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/swift/140585-paybacks-are-a.html -
Are you suggesting it was an April Fools prank? -
There are some people at Swift who have a sense of humor. I don't know for sure whether it's a prank or not, but if it is, it's a good one! How many drivers have been grumbling for two days about this? And how many drivers have actually seen this "new policy?" I haven't. Didn't even get an email. Just the QC message.
-
Text of the email follows. You're right. It's so much funnier the second time around . .
Swift Transportation has revised the Speed Policy. All drivers are expected to adhere to the revised policy.
We request that you access Swift University, which you can do through the Swift Kiosk or Driver Portal. On the home page of Swift University you will see a Speed Parameters Policy Revision course.
Upon accessing this course you will see a link to a PDF of this policy, which you should access and you may print for your reference. You will also see a link to a brief 3-minute course discussing the policy.
There will also be a link to a brief quiz on this subject. The final question on the quiz requests to do acknowledge receipt of this policy. You must score 100% on this quiz to get credit for completing this course. -
Back to my original post. The policy may or may not be a good policy. How would I know? I can't access it.
The fact of the matter is, Jones in the Speed Policy Department came up with the brilliant policy, then turned to Smith in the Spread the Word Department and said get this out, ASAP! Oh! And you need to come up with a means for the Drivers to acknowledge receipt of the policy, too. Ignorance of the policy is no excuse!
Like everyone else at Swift, Smith is kind of new. Smith doesn't know about the acknowledgement function/macro already built into the QC or that the kiosk and portal are two different animals and need to be updated separately. Smith blindly set about to execute the plan, got the certificate of appreciation, spent the bonus and accomplished a big fat zero.
But I'm still accountable to the policy. I spent all day yesterday speeding as much as possible just in case I wasn't going to be able to do it anymore. I'm going to speed some more today. I came to Swift just because of it's reckless speed policy and now I may have to rethink my future plans.scottied67 Thanks this. -
bigshrek72, i now you read richard stocking drops the ball tread to start this thread, START THERE, i'm been sitting here for 30 minutes thinking if i should say something,OK i will, swift must have fuel booklets so the driver can plan his or her day, i now i heard they used to, walls seperating drivers from staff, i understand that, to many drivers just don't shower enough bring that stink into the office is bad, bring the walls down, then the driver can sit next to the dispatcher and talk about the problems there having then he can relay that at the next meeting, UP THE DRIVER STANDARDS, clean cut, showered, if you look homeless you don't work here, OUTLAW T-SHIRTS, only button down shirts, next dirty showers from want i hear, at schneider, ya those orange trucks, and yes i did work there, there showers where spot less, but how, personal cleaned them all day and during the evening, you could spill food on the floor then pick it up and eat, that clean, SWIFT BEST IN CLASS, for the customer only, how about best in class for the driver, respect is not given, the driver or company MUST earn it, i plan on coming out of retirement this summer back to driving again, maybe for swift or millis transfer, millis has a fuel booklet, swift has lots of trailers for drop and hook, even score BIGSHREK, who should i work for you and why, bring that up at the next meeting

Ill keep it simple
1. this backing up honking and sending goal has got to go
2. memphis ect night and weekend needs to be completely fired and new people hired
3. if I have been out for a long time, I deserve some time at home with my family, without losing my truck. Don't think so? everytime you go home to your family, turn in your desk, clean it out, whip it down, and move it to the storage room. you can get it back and move back into it in the moring. -
biker dave Thanks this.
