Truck in the shop, we got called for our 30,000 mile PM. He ignored it for 3 days, said HE knows when the truck needs work and he was not going out of service when they wanted, finally we were put out of service by dispatch. Now he is moaning about how those dirty, greasy ignorant theiving mechanics are going to mess up his truck and steal his stuff. He actually told the service rep what work had to be done including how much oil the truck used.
getting off for 3 days next weekend, cant hardly wait.
had to stop for him to empty his pee jugs, all 3 of them, man has he never heard of a toilet
all in all I feel I am learning what I need to. My skills are improving and I am more comfortable shifting and moving the truck around. I am still happy with SWIFT, they are providing what they said they would.
Ill keep in touch and let you know how the last 3 weeks go.

Hey good story man this is the kind of stuff I want to hear. I will be staring orientation on July 16th with Roehl transport and I want to hear as many new drivers stories as I can.
-
Thanks for sharing your story Mr GJ. I wonder if this pee jug phenomenon is very common?
-
Not taking up for this lousy trainer, but a good driver will inform the shop of these things. -
No tarps,
he did not tell them how much oil the truck was burning, he told them how much they needed to use to do an oil change and what kind of oil HIS truck used.
he would have no idea how much oil the truck is burning, in 3 weeks he has never opened the hood or drained the air tanks.
we have been up since 4 am waiting for the shop to open at 7 am, he is going to give them a piece of his mind and tell them he is next -
As I told my son - "Just hang in there."
I received more than one ranting phone call about his trainer's rules. His was a 'do as I say not as I do' type.
He survived, I help load his gear into 'his' truck yesterday. -
my age 52, you'll see. Go for a year at Swift if you can hang in there...

I find the DOT comment priceless

I also agree with the other comments about giving the guy a failing grade for "training". He does not need to be training. He is exactly the type of person that NONE of us need to be representing the driver image in public, or with customers.
Hang with it though. Once you get your own truck, you''ll be in charge. And, quite possibly a "lot" scared for the first week or so.
Try to keep it professional....and don't be scared to ask questions from some of us "old timers". While most of us will give you a ribbing, you'll get sound advise from the majority. You'll get some bad too...You just have to learn to sort it out.
Someone who is willing to learn, wants to learn, and shows a professional attitude toward other drivers. Is always welcome in the industry.
And always remember...with a smile of course. In every other truck you meet. There is a Lawyer, a Doctor, a mechanic, a race car driver, a relationship manager, an investment banker....and none of them finished high school either LOL -
I really did "LOL" when i read this! -
My husband is a trainer with Roehl.......No he doesn't use a pee jug. That is so disgusting just thinking about it.
Mr Green Jeans you have the patience of a saint. Most would have demanded a new trainer and rightfully so. I would inform the company about the trainer as it was stated before he doesn't need to be training. Swift already has a bad rep as it is (Students With Idiots For Trainers)
