I think my home terminal probably has the class since it is Sumner WA. Thanks for the good info. What do you mean by irregular otr if I may ask? Would they allow drivers to pick up loads in Canada and deliver them to the final in the US? Or is it literally just shuttling across the border/ a dedicated type of thing?

Irregular route just means I go whereever I'm blown as opposed to a regional or dedicated driver.

Yes sometimes you will pick up loads in Canada and deliver directly to the receiver. Other times if the destination is thousands of miles, then yes they prefer to drop it in a drop yard and non-Canada approved drivers bringing Canada bound loads, drop theirs and trade off at the drop yard.

Going the other way, Swift tried the drop yard thing in Canada but got busted for supply chain issues. As you know under NAFTA international carriers are not allowed to pick up in the foreign country and deliver in foreign country. Swift has a team of lawyers up in the Canadian courts trying to fight for the drop yard business model because it keeps freight and drivers moving more efficiently. The argument is that a Swift American driver brings the load up to the Canadian drop yard, drops it for some days (hooks to a different dropped American bound load) and a different driver (American) takes it to the final in Canada. This scenario was never written into the NAFTA law so that's why it's all tied up in the courts. If Swift gets its addendum it will be a huge game changer for NAFTA carriers.
