There are a couple of posters on this forum, who claim to make over $1000 per week, every week, since they have been at Swift. I don't believe it, but that is what they claim.

I don't believe that unless they are LP I know a few Company drivers who pull 600 to 700 weekly and that's it

I wonder if they are even drivers. They both sound like company shills. They run hard, they know what they are doing, everyone else is wrong, yada yada.

Swift is what it is. A starter company. I started with them almost 9 months ago. From what I understand, each terminal is run a little different, so I can only state what I know in regards and I will not be able to draw a comparison because its my first company. First the positives. My terminal truly values safety. If your'e in no shape to drive or there is extreme weather, they highly encourage you to shut down. They have done a good job of getting me home on time, although frustrating most time. They now have apps and online services to help streamline turning in bills and keeping track of your pay. I believe they do want to get better. The main reason I started with them and stuck it out longer than the 8 others that started with me is, they were pretty much the only one in my area that would have the human compassion to enlist me in school with 2, 18+ year old felonies for marijuana, which I will forever be grateful. The school was EXTREMELY fast paced and DEFINITELY not a give me, you must work hard. It is effective. I'm trying but I can not think of any other substantial positives, so here's the negatives and why I can no longer stay. I'm not going to rant, because more than likely the other negatives are an industry issue and not Swift. I stay out 4-6 weeks at a time( Once I did 3 ) I beg for miles, my projected YTD is $28,800 gross as of Jan 1st. My checks are short 1/4 - 1/3 of the time. I get my reimbursements (scales, tolls, faxes, lumper, motel ect. ) %75 of the time and the %25 of the ones that I have to call about 1/2 are paid. Approx. $320 I'm still owed and have given up on trying. $80 definitely, $240 I'f they understood and cared. I have 100% on time ( countless times almost crapping my pants en route to make sure I keep that score) No accidents and a professional attitude about this career. The 5 series trailers are a nightmare, you're going to have to put in some work to get going( Tandems, doors, latches, landing gears ) unpaid of course. I'm now 2 weeks waiting on breakdown pay. Over all though I would recommend Swift as a company to start off with but i'f getting your year in is a priority like it was for me you'd better have low bills and a high tolerance, but to be fair they do a GREAT job of dealing with newbies as I am sure it is frustrating and if they hadn't lost my trust and gave me more respect and miles, I could have stayed much, much longer. Stay safe and good luck!
