Hey so as I posted earlier I’m looking to move to the Midwest this year. It just seems that if I want to do any serious trucking the Midwest is the state to be. Located in Connecticut right now I’m looking at either Indiana or Illinois but at this point right now any Midwestern state will do. I was wondering is it possible to get my license transferred over there without having a physical address as of yet?

Cart before the horse or what? You don’t even know what state you want to move to.

Your going to need a physical address I believe.
When you do get one, Indiana is easy to transfer your license over. You just have to do all the written tests.
With Illinois you have to do the actual driving/backing tests along with all the written.tscottme, Chinatown, Kingty9183 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Not the states you mentioned. Have you considered S. Dakota or Texas? No income tax and you can set up and address through Excapees RV Club that can be used for your CDL.
From the Escapees FAQ:
Can I use my Escapees mail service address for my driver's license, voter registration, etc.?
Yes, you can use your Escapees Mail Service address in Texas, Florida or South Dakota as your residence address for driver’s licensing, vehicle titles, voter registration and other legal purposes. Please see our information on domicile for more details.tscottme, jethro712, Kingty9183 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Why do you want to transfer your license before you move?

Illinois is strict. Some drivers on here went there and the DMV made them do a pre-trip inspection and road test.
They failed the pre-trip inspection and lost their license.tscottme, Kingty9183 and austinmike Thank this. -

I'd choose Florida. Can get a legal address in Bushnell, Florida and switch your cdl to Florida with ease.
Leonard's Express hires Florida drivers and has serious miles out of Florida, such as to Pacific Northwest.
