Kind of depends what gear you was in when you seen it turn yellow. And road speed. You say its a 10 speed right. If I was in 10th, Id go 10 to 8th and 8th to 6th and stop in 6th and put my button down and go to 3rd. Always watch way ahead of you, If its been green a while you know its gonna change soon so go to 8th gear. Better to impede traffic than run a red light. If your rolling in slow and miss a gear in your 10 speed then button down and go to fourth gear. It will usually go in fourth if your moving slow.
switching trans to low side when slowing down harmful?

Well in the eaton fuller 10 speed video ive seen, they say not to flip the range selector while the vehicle is in motion and in neutrel. So in other words, flip to the low side while you are still in six (and still rolling) and go into five. But if you happen to be rolling and in neutrel then you need to stop before you switch the range selector. Not sure exactly why but thats what they say. I think its easier to do it that way anyways. If im in neutrel i usually have a tougher time finding the gear.

What i do, if in 9 or 10 I skip a gear on downshift way before the light. Example, I am in 10 doing 55 and light is red ahead. I will drop speed to 35 with brakes and go to 8 and then slow to 15 and go to 6. Come to complete stop and set up to take off. However if light turns green while trying to slow down I can just hit the go pedal and get back up to the geqr I need. I was told in school only downshift in the high gears. 1 through 5 are so low you can slow down and stop without lugging the engine or killing it.
