Thanks Rugerfan, I'll be calling them in the morning for sure.
Also, in my past career after the military, I was a gunsmith, and have a huge affinity for the Ruger77, and have made a lot of custom rifles out of them. Rugers make great rifles.
Based on your info, it sounds like a great company, hopefully Ill see you on the road!

After looking at safety scores, etc, I'm really liking System. I talked to their recruiter today, and she seemed to be a straight shooter. She didn't try to snowball me with promises, just the facts, emailed me info on the pay and benefits, and since I am fairly close, told me to go to Cheney and take a tour so I can talk to some of the employees. I am definitely liking the opportunity, and since I don't have any felonies, or DUI's I should have a fair shot. Pretty excited about the whole prospect!

I just got the email saying the jobs mine if I want it for system. I was offered a dedicated account hauling rail car parts from GE in Vegas to so cal, and random other areas. Home almost every night .36/m that account averages 10k-12k miles a month. $30 tarp pay I think. Anyone with system haul out of there before ? Pros/cons of company ?

Ive hauled out of the GE union pacifc plant in Bloomington right next to our yard one time before and it was traction motors going to Hermiston, OR... nice and easy to secure but I pull a conestoga so I didn't have to tarp them. I also see tons of train axles being pulled on a few 53' flatbeds so that might be what you would be doing. I've never secured those before but it looks a little tricky to get down at first but the only con I would say about system is all of the tons of multiple drop loads that we do. for me its not bad but when I pulled a regular flatbed I hated it!! But other than that I have absolutely no complaints what so ever

yea ill be running the axels. from what ive seen as theyre running down the road is a chain over each wheel and 2 straps over the axel. im not 100% sure but i believe these are just single drops. most have to be tarped but they have smaller red tarps for those. i actually put in my notice at my current job this afternoon and am set up for 8/5 orientation. ill definately start a thread when im headed that way! maybe ill run into ya sometime ruger

Rugerfan,
How is the California Regional? I would like to stay as close to home as possible for now. Do you know what kind of miles those guys are getting? Any advice would help. -
IDK what the cali regional guys are getting. Everyone ive talked to about it says to not do it but I don't know exactly why they say that. they are very good about hometime so that wont be an issue but on the system side they do want you to stay out 3 weeks minimum unless you get a load through the house you can stop for the night.. Big Tex those are traction motors and they are simple to haul. I have hauled those one time up to Hermiston but I pull a conestoga so I didn't have to tarp them but they will be easy. I just put a chain around the axles and they rode the best that way. I tried chaining around the wheels and they slipped off.

What size inverters are in the trucks. Do they got the models with the fridges built in ? Change in plans I'll be attending the 29th orientation. I'm excited for the new journey.

Big Tex I will also be at orientation on the 29th TWT
I'll look for you -
