Plus, a driver who keeps their foot on the clutch pedal wears out the release bearing(we use to call it a throwout bearing)

Well I'm not a professional, so sometimes I float, sometimes bump the clutch to take the pressure off when taking it out of gear, sometimes a touch of clutch to slip it in to gear, sometimes full double clutch. Depends on how heavy, how soft the ground is, how steep the climb is, if I'm turning, etc. I don’t consciously think about it, my left foot just does it's own thing! Lol

I do not ride the clutch pedal, and try to keep my #### hand from resting on the shifter, but sometimes catch myself on that one, and then I have to take that metal edged ruler with my left hand and whack my right hand!

InTooDeep, REO6205, Last Call and 3 others Thank this.

You'd be surprised how fast you get out of the habit of using the stick as an armrest when you get into your 1st AMT equipped truck. That and waving at the floor hunting for a shifter to downshift for a turn.

okiedokie, wore out and Oxbow Thank this.

How many had slammed thier left foot to the floor in their automatic pickup and reached for air brakes after a long day?

Really hoping I'm not the only dumb ###.

    I can only imagine.

    Getting used to using this:

When all my life I have used this:

Is hard enough for an old man.

If you could see me, you'd see my hand raised and hear me say "I have"...that and constantly looking for my hood mirrors before starting a lane change.

    jamespmack and Oxbow Thank this.

You're not. My new Tundra is the first vehicle I've ever owned with an automatic. There's getting to be a pretty good sized dent in the floor boards where my left foot goes.

jamespmack, InTooDeep and Oxbow Thank this.
