Why do we as team drivers operate for half the pay as a solo driver?
The standard comment, " there are 2 of you, twice the miles"
Every person we have asked to decrease their pay by half to continue working in their present career, trucker or otherwise, always answered with about the same responses, i.e., why would I ever do that, couldn't make it on that, that's unfair, or ARE YOU CRAZY!
You are still expected to drive for half of what a solo driver earns... the company standard needs to change.
Time to make waves...

You're at the wrong carrier. Here teams make 9 to 12 cents more per mile

Line haul companies pay better; each driver of the team can earn $100K per year. Some split $225K and others split maybe $180K - $200K.
Estes Express
Old Dominion
there's others.
Some split $.60 cpm which is pretty good also.
TWT Refrigerated Service
Celadon
Waggoners split $.67 cpm I think.drivingfool Thanks this. -

You should and can make more. Go with an LTL team company. Wife and I gross 90k a year each . We are paid by run but it works out to 68cpm. And home a full 2 days as well as 4 hrs each night at home
