looking to buy my own reefer. Was wondering what temperature should an empty trailer go down to in 75-80 Fahrenheit?

It does not matter what the outside temp is provided everything is in order. Particularly the integrity of your trailer. You can usually get down to -20 after a period of some hours inside that thing ready to accept a load. The trailer knows what the outside air temperature combined with the heat index is. And will do it's best to meet your set point. Ive had trailers working in a apparent 145 to 160 degree environment some days at the catwalk.
What you cannot do is chill 80 degree product to -20, it will use up so much time and burn all of your money trying to do it.Farmerbob1 Thanks this. -
Thanks, good to know
Re reading I guess I didn’t ask my question right though. Was wondering within an hour or two max.
Since I can’t burn the diesel of the person I’m buying from a whole day or so let’s say. -
If you are trying to cool the trailer to a temperature to load 70,000 dollars in say Ice Cream, Frozen. A few gallons of fuel is the least of your anxiety. Cool that thing.

What I meant is doubt anyone selling their reefer trailer will let somebody leave their trailer running for as many hours as we want
-
I think any seller of a refer will understand your need to test the unit and won't have any issues with you running it for a few hours. My refer will burn about 9 to 10 gallons in a 24 hour period set at -10 continuous in the summer time. Just saying.

It's a lot better to prove it to you in actual cooling than to kick the tires like a shyster salesman trying to con and pressure you into buying a trailer you know nothing about.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Buy an TK SB 230 or SB 330.Other then the head gasket issue they are easily the best reefer ever made.
