I am seriously thinking of ripping the carpet out. I really don't like it. In the house I grew up in my parents put some kind of a cork floor in the kitchen. It was actually pretty cool. It was soft enough that I think it would be comfortable for a truck but hard enough to not act like carpet does. Might look into something like that. Need to fix my leaky sunroof first though. I read on here somebody soaked their seal with brake fluid, the rubber soaked up all the fluid and expanded and it solved all their leaky sunroof problems. Might be crazy enough to work LOL.

Sitting here at the truckstop. Just had a mini meltdown. Trying to relax but my APU is making something rattle on the back of the sleeper cab. I fricking hate rattling noises that won't go away. I found that if I throw myself around on the bunk it rocks the sleeper and makes the rattling go away. But it kept coming back. After the 10th time I'd about had enough. Then this guy pulls in next to me with the air dryer purging every 2 seconds. I lost it. Got dressed, got out of the sleeper, went outside and banged on the APU and the load bars and the catwalk and whatever -the-heck-else that might be rattling and it seems to have stopped. Was just about to fire up and do a 180* u-turn and pull in the opposite direction while staring angrily at the guy next to me when he decides to leave. Thank God.
So I was thinking more about this floor - the cab would be difficult to put any kind of "real" flooring down because of the Kenworth cab design where the floor slopes upward towards the pedals. I'm thinking maybe just using something like a truck bedliner, like Line-X, Rhinoliner, etc., might make a good floor for the cab? Could even put a few pluggable drain holes in so I could just rinse it out with a garden hose. Maybe the drain hole part is a little too redneck. Seemed like a decent enough idea at first.
I really think I will rip the sleeper carpet out though and maybe lay in some of that cork flooring. The question is though... what do I use for all of the edges? Can't exactly put in moulding...mickimause Thanks this. -
look in a home depot type of store for flexible baseboard moulding
dieselfuelonly and mickimause Thank this. -
Probably some pictures on Google where someone did something similar. Should be able to get some ideas from there.

You won't be the first to cut a hole on the floor. .....some people like dropping a load right next to where they eat and sleep.....if you get my drift
dieselfuelonly Thanks this. -
you are tired. go to sleep.
side note. 1/4 round and a jig saw for flooring finish. Be a good idea for the base layer to have some insulating factor. to keep the heat out.dieselfuelonly Thanks this. -

Well that sucks found out one of my mirror covers got busted up. No clue how or when. I noticed it when I stopped for the 3am truck wash at the Peetro tonight. I remember something hitting my drivers side window a few weeks ago and I couldn't see or find what it was. It must have smacked my mirror housing then deflected off into the window. Probably a bat or small owl or whatever other flying animals are out at night. Then some of the cracked pieces must have eventually rattled loose.
It's towards the inner side of the cover so I don't think anybody hit it. Plus that would have woke me up. Oh well... something to fix next time I'm at home. Scared to know what KW wants for that part. All the aftermarket ones I can find are chrome. I want the factory white one to match my truck.
Headed down to GA then back up to VA. Got lots of time so I'm taking it.
Looked at my IFTA reports from SNI for January and it says I averaged 6.51 MPG. Not bad for this old CAT with 1.3 million miles and a not-so-aerodynamic setup with no wing on my roof. Plus an APU that runs 100% of the time when it is on, lol. It may actually be slightly better than that because I think I bought more fuel in January than I used and went home with more fuel in the tanks than usual.
Finally had to make the move from top bunk to folding out the couch and putting my mattress on top of that today. Winter is on it's way out down here. Thank God. It was freeing at like 66* in the bottom half of the sleeper and still too hot up top. So I lose a little space and my couch but I'll gladly take being able to reach all my light switches, APU controls, and most of all cool AC.
Question about the baseboard and/or quarter round moulding - how would I secure it since I don't really have anything to nail it to? I have never done flooring in a house before but I imagine the baseboard gets nailed to the 2x4s behind the sheetrock in the walls? I guess I could kind of nail it vertically down into the flooring, but especially with a soft material like the cork floor if I do that, I don't think it would hold. I want it to be removable so gorilla gluing it isn't an option lol. -
Maybe you can find a mirror at a truck salvage yard. Try Adelman's in Canton, Ohio.

I really wish SNI would provide their settlements in a more useful file format. Imagine how nice something that could be exported to Quicken would be. No, instead they must use this nested crap of a PDF generated within a Java app within a website, Crossroads, that is a massive technological failure in and of itself. Of course EVERY PDF SETTLEMENT EVER contains PENDING ITEMS which includes the CURRENT REVENUE/EXPENSES. Yes, this means that the PDF report that I generate for my weekly settlement from January 16th, 2014 ALSO INCLUDES a (NO LESS THAN THREE PAGE) section reporting my revenue/expenses between last weeks' settlement and this upcoming one. Who the **** thinks this **** up. I swear they do this to make it so impossible for anyone to import/export their settlements other than manually entering every income/expense into the accounting program of their choice that they hope it forces contractors into paying ATBS (aka Absolute Trash Bull**** Service) over $900/year just to generate reports.
Any other reasonable alternatives?
