It was a couple years ago..when I managed to get of my lap I couldn't get to peddles.. Neutral drop it and coasted to shoulder. Officer was shocked I didn't wrecked. SEM wanted me to kick out the windshield and drive it to the pilot about ten miles cup.

That is some classic ****ing SEM **** right there. Sat here and laughed out loud to myself in the sleeper when I read that. Oh man.

Stopped for the night short of my delivery that I realized I can't make until the window tomorrow. Whatever, I was kinda tired anyway.

Sometimes you're reminded what a small world it is. As I was coming off 95, moosc was coming over it and he recognized my truck and got me on the CB. Had a nice chat with him headed through southern VA. Sorry we didn't get to meet in person, next time.

And this is the difference of someone who is in their 3rd year of trucking and someone who is in their 20th. My life flashes before my eyes when a bee bounces off my mirror and lands in my seat. A turkey smashes through moosc's windshield and his reaction is "better get some pictures while this live turkey is still sitting on the floorboards in my truck". LMAO.

Never a dull moment in trucking.

Thanks much. Had the alignment checked during this escapade, and it was perfect....but a good piece of advice. I appreciate the tip on the shop as well. That's one part I'm still very early in the learning stage about: good shops. I thought the initial $70 bucks spent for all I found out was actually pretty reasonable.

As far as ATBS....yeah, I'm absolutely leaning away from them in another 3 months, but I want to see if a different "consultant" makes much of a difference. I've looked at some other options on-line, but quite frankly I don't mind paying someone to do this administrative work. 50% of smart is knowing what you're dumb at, and the paperwork is definitely an achilles heal for me. I'm good at saving receipts and that sort of thing, but the assembling of them is just something I have no patience with.

If anyone has any other good suggestions as to accounting, either people or tools available on-line, I'm open to them.

Few other quick tidbits....my overall fuel mileage at around 25k miles on the unit is 7.8. My biggest complaint with the truck is that several screws on the interior were overtightened at the assembly and were stripped. Two in the dash, and a few others scattered about the cabin. Not a biggie, but also not a problem I experienced with my last Cascadia at Crete (one that had the next level of interior trim). The DD15 is not disappointing me. In fact, in a few years as this lease comes to an end, I'd like to get a nicer Cascadia with this engine. SNI however does not lease any Cascadias with nicer appointments, so I may go out on my own as far as a purchase. But shoot...so many things can change so quickly in two years, and especially when you are in your mid 50s. For now, I'm just going to enjoy the relative freedom, the fact I'm making decent bucks without working as hard, and all the other things that go with it.

OH, but one thing...does ANYONE ever sweep out trailers? I don't mean just pushing out the larger pieces of debris....I'm talking about actually sweeping the trailer completely clean. I've had more nasty trailers in three months here than in three years at Crete. Just a lot of built up dust....not a biggie, but a peeve. Gotten to the point I need to wear a dust mask for the task.

I've been here for 6 months. I will admit the last month I've really become jaded about the whole trailer sweeping thing. For the first 5 months I left every trailer spotlessly clean, following the mantra to treat others as you want to be treated. It litereally hasn't paid off. Instead I felt like I was baby sitting. Another point of frustration for me is when you pick up an empty from a shipper/receiver and it's trashed. Full of garbage/pallet pieces, etc.... Many of these places being places we are required to supply food grade equipment. It pisses me off to no end that they will unload a trailer and put it out on the line in that condition. Then the issue is also, where do you sweep it out? They dont want you sweeping it out on their lot (which could be avoided if they didn't put the trailer out there in that condition) and your next shipper isn't going to want you sweeping it out on their lot. I cant imagine truck stops enjoy us sweeping trailers out on their lots either.

Maybe you identified your own issue. See parts in BOLD. I'm not sure if you are serious or just your choice of wording, but sweeping a trailer out on a customers lot or truckstop lot is never a good thing and greatly contributes to our image of being a "trashy truck driver".

I don't have very many issues cleaning my trailers. I sweep the debris into a pile at the rear of the trailer and then, using a smaller brush and dust pan, I put that pile into a garbage bag and then into a trash receptacle. The larger pieces of broken pallet runners get placed in the passenger floorboard until I can get to a dumpster, if I'm not already at a truckstop. If I am, those pieces get put into the trash cans.
