I can't recommend Knight, unless they have drastically changed the Squire program. It used to take months of driving at under 25cpm to "graduate" after the trainers truck.
The day has arrived ....

Everybody on the list is entry level positions. And you have to start somewhere. You are going to have enough to think about in your new world without having to add the stress related to temp sensitive freight and dealing with food whses constantly, which you will find is a hassle.
Pull dry van, make sure you do everything safely, don't let any dispatcher or management personnel browbeat you into doing something your gut says isn't right. Keep your record clean, driving and work record and soon with the right attitude you will advance into a position and carrier that you like. At this point you really don't know what that is. It will come to you
Good Luck.austinmike, JReding and wfutch79 Thank this. -
I don't know about Mom. Whatever your age might be places her close to senior citizen.
Her bones might not tolerate the motion of 600 plus miles a day. There is a form of inflammation that sometimes strikes from motion And if you get it then you will always have it.
I appreciate your motivation etc and wish you best of luck in everything, but dear Mom... it's maybe wise to leave her home. Unless you can score a volvo 780 or Keniworth 2000 etc. Something truly nice. -

I can tell you about CFI.
no team driving for students. the student is in the left seat driving and the trainers in the right-hand seat on duty solo clock.
you can go on the road for 7500 miles I believe...I believe you get $0.26 a mile while you're in training, check with a recruiter on that.
miles has been good, extremely steady raises for your first year, then they come about once a year after that. Pets are cool, passengers are cool. with cats I think they charge you a couple of cents a mile but then give it back if you meet certain mileage criteria...never heard of anybody not getting it back.
. it seems the grass is Browner on the other side...I've left the company a couple of times and was only gone three weeks or so and came back both times
good luck to you whatever you decideLast edited: Apr 27, 2017
