Just like on this board you are a representation of what the outside world sees.

YOU all have the ability to be a MENTOR to young willing truckers, who will look to you for good sound advice.

I have read this thread and thought it had been shut down. For a min. I was disappointed glad to see you reopened it..These like the forum says are Stories from the road some are not really a good example of getting on down the Hwy..amd I am sorry about that..I did pick up on one thing that makes drivers do the things they do..gread and fear...fear of not being there on time of ....of what the dispatcher is going to do next ...the fear of losing your job...big motivators for drivers to drive illegal..greed is a nother king pin that was factored into why people do stupid reckless driving..Some are lucky and get away with it...I was lucky and got away not wrecking the truck doing full throttle back when with a big Kitty-Kitty under the hood..Still have a the Cat 18 geered up but now 3 - 5 miles over the limit maybe..I am not always sure the odometer is reading right..

heres the story back in the old days I would load in Norfold Va a step-deck with military freight going to Bremerton Wa at the Navel Ship base..We left Friday after noon early evening..it is 30015 miles if you add in the fuel stops and in 56 hours running non-stop switching in the seats going down the road it still averaged 53.57 mph it was done back and for the problem is that doing that type of a run where a body down..remember that was 3000 in 56 hours and we ran like that back and forth It is a hard life and some only know that type of a life..who know way back when I have only been out since early 90's didn't have to do the drugs like some drivers did but there is way to much traffic. alot more scales and I have alot more sense..

I have run 48 hrs non-stop but like some one said "doctors do and and so to nurses.."I came from a nursing background 16 hr a day was normal doing double, and favors..but it paid a price..burn out...and that is a common disease in Doctors, Nurses, Police and Truck drivers and if you check it out these are also the professions with the highest divorce rates...So Like my hubby says (his handle is Easy) he says take it easy..I am no big hurry and the trailer is not on fire..there is no such thing as a hot Load..Get Home Safe...

I am glad to see that this thread was reopened. This is supposed to be about stories from the road. To lock it was really absurd.................and I had voiced that to a mod.........

It was probably for the best the the thread was TEMPORARILY closed. I don't think it should have been closed for good though, so i'm glad its reopened. As far as only seeing a dog because the movie put it in your head, i don't believe that "seeing the dog" neccessarily means youve SEEN a DOG. I immagine most people are referring to seeing "things" jump out at you... most often dogs/deer/moose in maine/canada maybe? I personally have felt like things were jumping out at me, but i'm kinda paranoid about that sorta thing in the first place, so when it gets dark and i'm super tired, it can seem like somethings jumping out at you :smt031

why would you run 3 days straight in the first palce. were you staying later and later at the truckstops flirting with the waitress's, instead of getting your required rest..?

being "pumped up" on caffine and nicotine is as bad as being on drugs, and for what reason, you never say, you were running 3 straight days......

are you an o/o that thought you could turn a fast buck? (i think not however)

are you a company driver (maybe a newbie) that tried to impress your dispatcher?

"coming back to our shop", would (to me) indicate that you are a company driver.

i'm glad you haven't done it again, as you say, but you never told us why you did this in the first place, but that reason(s) still wouldn't "save you" from any opinions towards you.

running an hour past your legal driving time, i could say that happens, but to run 3 days straight tells me your apt to do this again, since you "know you can". let me know what travel lanes you drive so that i can be off that highway when you do......ok..??

  11. you know i see the dog all the time actaully they drive around in trucks that pay them .26 a mile i think the writing on the side of the trailer says something like swift i am not sure though
